The Coast Guard encourages anyone paying for a boat ride to ask their captain two critical questions to ensure their safety:
1. Ask to see their captain's Merchant Mariner Credential.
2. Ask to see a U. S. Coast Guard issued Certificate of Inspection (required for all charters to Crab Island).
If your captain cannot produce these credentials, DO NOT get on the boat.
